(PressZoom) - Tourism Queensland has teed up a partnership with Australian golfing great Adam Scott, who will front a new tourism campaign in the lead-up to this year’s Australian PGA.
Tourism Minister Peter Lawlor said the partnership involved Adam leading a new tourism campaign “Tee it Up with Adam Scott in Queensland Australia” offering the opportunity for American golfing enthusiasts to travel and join him on the Sunshine Coast for this year’s Australian PGA.
“The Australian PGA is in December at Coolum and will be a great drawcard for visitors from near and far to the Sunshine Coast,” Mr Lawlor said.
“Not only is Adam a world-famous, professional golfer; he is also a proud Queenslander which makes him a perfect fit for the upcoming campaign.”
The $100,000 marketing campaign runs until Sunday 31 October, and is an initiative of Tourism Queensland in partnership with US travel wholesaler Springboard Vacations.
Mr Lawlor said as part of the campaign, Springboard Vacations will promote all-inclusive Queensland holiday packages incorporating flights, accommodation, activities and meals, available via SpringboardVacations.com.
“Our aim through this partnership is to raise Queensland’s profile as a desirable holiday destination to Americans - specifically golfing enthusiasts – and their friends and families,” he said.
“As part of the campaign, American golfing enthusiasts will be invited to enter a competition as well.
“The winner will have the opportunity to grab a private golf lesson with Adam and play in his foursome at the ProAm in Coolum, as well as enjoy a five-night getaway to Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef.
“We’re encouraging US golfers, their families and friends to log on to golfwithadamscott.com and enter this fantastic competition.”
The campaign launches today with Adam Scott and Tourism Queensland in Los Angeles.
“We are thrilled to have Adam on board as the face of this campaign and also to have him promoting Queensland internationally,” Mr Lawlor said.
“Through these campaigns and activities, the Bligh Government is actively and strongly supporting the tourism industry and tourism jobs.
“From Cairns to Coolangatta, we have campaigns running to drive both domestic and international visitors to our beautiful state.”
