Cornell was highly regarded as one of the top teams to come into the March Madness tournament from the Ivy League and they proved their dominance winning against a team much higher ranked. Cornell had only lost one game in their Ivy League conference with an overall record of 28 wins with four losses.
Temple lost once again in the first round which they have done for the past three years. Cornell lost the past two years but this team has more players who are seniors experienced in NCAA tournament play.
Cornell took a commanding lead in the first half by the score of 37-29 and also outscored Temple in the second half by five points 41-36.
