The 82nd annual Academy Awards show was televised live from Los Angeles with hosts Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin.
First time winner Jeff Bridges won the best actor Oscar for his role in the Robert Duvall produced movie 'Crazy Heart'. Sandra Bullock won her first Oscar for her heartwarming role in 'The Blind Side'.
Experts in the industry were split on the best picture award with many favoring 'The Hurt Locker' over the 3-D 'Avatar'. Director James Cameron's 3-D adventure 'Avatar', lost out to the war inspired movie 'The Hurt Locker' which picked up best picture.
Bridges thanked his parents for introducing him and his brother beau Bridges to acting. Bullock thanked all the other women who were nominated for the best actress award as well as a touching tribute to her deceased mother.
