Sandra Bullock won the 2010 Best Actress award at the 2010 Oscars which were held last night in Los Angeles. Sandra Bullock was one of five women nominated for the coveted Best Actress award which included Meryl Streep and Helen Mirren. The Academy Awards celebrate the best in motion pictures for this yearly event.

Bullock won her first Oscar with her role in the movie 'The Blind Side', a story about a rich family taking in a homeless boy.
Bullock was a longshot as her category had a wealth of talented actresses which included Helen Mirren from "The Last Station", Carey Mulligan who was in "An Education", Gabourey Sidibe in "Precious", and Meryl Streep in "Julie & Julia". Bullock thanked each of the women as well as a tearful thank you to her deceased mother.
Bullock is well known for her role with Keanu Reeves in the movie 'Speed'.
Other winners at this year's event were 'The Hurt Locker' for best picture and Jeff Bridges for best actor. Wildly popular movie 'Avatar' was shut out of the top awards.
