Months of rumors fueled the movie relating to outrageous budgeting for the movie which reportedly exceeded $200 million. But the press might have actually helped the movie with the huge opening numbers. Estimates have been reported to be at $210 million for the film worldwide.
The 'Alice in Wonderland' release was not expected to do as well as other recent movies as it was not a sequel.
The 'Alice in Wonderland' movie pushed the James Cameron directed 'Avatar' out of the #1 spot in the rankings which it held for eleven weeks.
