(PressZoom) - The 2010 Oscars will not be available on New York based Cablevision's systems. The Oscars are a victim of two huge companies battling over payments for airing ABC programming. The battle has therefore resulted in customers not able to see any programming on ABC.
The issue centers around a reported $40 million difference in payments which BC wants Cablevision to pay. Cablevision has been showing a special announcement on its systemsto customers mentioning that the company pays already $200 million per year for the rights to air ABC and does not want to pay another $40 million per year for these same rights.
Cablevision covers the Tri-State area in the northeast with estimated revenues annually of $8 billion.
ABC alleges that Cablevision has been billing customers for broadcast channels like ABC but not sharing revenue with ABC.
Current Cablevision customers are left with no signal on the ABC station for the time being while the resolution is worked out.
As a special for Cablevision customers, the company announced late Sunday that all customers will get to watch any on-demand movies they choose for no cost.
