(PressZoom) - General Motors has released recall details for 1.3 million vehicles for power steering assist problems that owners might encounter. No injuries or deaths have been reported due to this issue but GM is taking preventative measures to ensure the safety of its customers.
This GM recall covers certain models built from 2005 to 2010 including Chevrolet Cobalts and Pontiac G5's.
Details being reported about the recall center around the power steering assist system in GM compact vehicles. The problem of the power steering assist systems could cause the vehicle to make driving difficult and potentially dangerous.
A rash of recent recalls by several automakers including Toyota and Nissan has brought to the forefront problems in the manufacturing process as well as notifying customers of these issues. The problem has grown so large that a Toyota chairman was asked to testify in front of a U.S. Congressional panel last month.
The problem has been diagnosed and confirmed but no fix has been made at the moment. GM continues to provide a solution at this time to the power steering recall.
Specific makes and models included in this recall list are: 2005-10 Chevy Cobalts and 2007-10 Pontiac G5 models made for the USA. Outside of the USA, 2005-6 Pontiac Pursuits are recalled for Canada and 2005-6 Pontiac G4 models in Mexico.
