DELEGATIONS FROM BELIZE, GUATEMALA AND HONDURAS MEET AT OAS
The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, met yesterday, April 16, with the Foreign Affairs Ministers of Belize, Eamon Courtenay, and Guatemala, Gert Rosenthal, and the Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs of Honduras, Eduardo Enrique Reyna, at OAS headquarters to assess the progress made on the negotiation process regarding the maritime area.
(PressZoom) - The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, met yesterday, April 16, with the Foreign Affairs Ministers of Belize, Eamon Courtenay, and Guatemala, Gert Rosenthal, and the Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs of Honduras, Eduardo Enrique Reyna, at OAS headquarters to assess the progress made on the negotiation process regarding the maritime area.
The Foreign Affairs Ministers of Belize and Guatemala also discussed issues arising under the September 7, 2005, Framework Agreement and agreed on mechanisms to advance on the resolution of these issues.
The Secretary General again offered the support of the General Secretariat to both countries to facilitate the negotiation process.
Additionally, the Secretary General underlined the friendly and constructive spirit of the meeting and the countries’ will to reach an agreement.
